If you’re planning a trip to Medewi, Bali, you’re in for laid-back vibes, incredible surf breaks, and some seriously underrated food. 8 Best Places To Eat In Medewi, Bali

Best for: A cool, breezy dining spot with a mix of Indonesian and Western options
Favourite meal: Pad Thai

Avocado Resto food in Medewi, Bali

Just a few minutes up a side street off the main highway – away from the coast – you’ll find Avocado Resto, right in front of Surfer’s Villas and Resort. Beautifully designed with open glass doors letting in the ocean breeze, this spot feels more polished than your typical warung.

Their menu covers all bases, featuring delicious Indonesian dishes, Western staples and creative twists on Asian favourites. Dylan ordered the Pad Thai, which was packed with flavour and looked amazing. I went for the Tropical Beef Salad – it was a big, well-presented dish, but the flavour was a little underwhelming. That said, they’re also known for their croissants, and they didn’t disappoint!

Though slightly pricier than average, the quality and portion size is worth it. Pair your meal with fresh juice and settle into the cool, laid-back atmosphere overlooking lush fields.

Rasta Cafe

Location: Jalan Widuri Simpang Tiga
Price: 40 – 70k IDR
Best for: Bold flavours and a welcoming, laid-back vibe
Favourite meal: Bao buns

Food at Rasta Cafe, best place to eat in Medewi

Tucked away down a narrow side street next to Avocado Resto, you’ll find a little slice of Jamaica at Rasta Cafe. From the moment we walked in, we instantly felt at home and leant into the laid-back vibe, staying for a while sipping on our drinks.

The cafe’s open design overlooks lush rice fields, allowing a refreshing breeze to flow through its indoor-outdoor space. But the menu is the real winner here, it’s a mix of local favourites and unique dishes you wouldn’t expect to find in Bali – and everything we tried was amazing.

We couldn’t get enough of the homemade Bao buns and a vegetarian salad they had as a special that day. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of surfing or sightseeing – you can even stay nearby at the Medewi Surf Villas.

Kedai Jukung Cafe

Location: JI. Raya Denpasar – Gilimanuk
Price: 15 – 60k IDR
Best for: Affordable and filling bites
Favourite meal: Chicken and avocado salad

Grilled Chicken Salad at Kedai Jakung Cafe in Medewi

Kedai Jukung Cafe keeps it simple and budget-friendly, making it a reliable choice when you’re looking for decent food within quick walking distance from the beach without breaking the bank. We tried the chicken and avocado salad, which was fresh, portioned generously, and perfectly satisfying for the price.

This is a no-frills spot, so don’t expect speedy service or overly attentive staff, but the relaxed vibe makes it easy to overlook. Just grab a seat in their indoor or sheltered outdoor dining area, kick back, and enjoy the people-watching while you fuel up before your next surf!

Kokos Kitchen & Bar (Umadewi)

Location: JI. Pantai Medewi
Price: 50 – 150k IDR
Best for: Beachfront luxury dining experience
Favourite meal: Spaghetti Bolognese

Koko's Kitchen and Bar Sunset in Medewi

There’s no better place to combine amazing food with Medewi’s world-class views than Kokos Kitchen & Bar – part of the luxurious Umadewi Surf & Retreat. Situated right by the famous left-hand surf break, you can enjoy the sight of surfers catching waves while digging into your meal.

Spaghetti at Koko's Restaurant in Medewi

The service at Koko’s was fantastic – friendly and attentive – and we absolutely loved our pasta dishes. Dylan even said the bolognese was the best he’s ever had at a restaurant, which is a bold statement! The menu is definitely on the pricier side, similar to Bombora’s, but honestly, for the incredible view, the great service, and the quality of the food, it’s worth splurging for at least one night.

For ultimate relaxation, snag a spot on their outdoor lounge chairs after your meal to savour your coffee or cocktail.

Lefty’s Restaurant (Bombora Resort)

Location: JI. Pantai Medewi
Price: 40k – 100k IDR
Best for: Poolside dining with epic ocean views
Favourite meal: Nasi Campur and pizzas

Nasi Campur and juice at Bombora Medewi

Lefty’s Restaurant – located in the Bombora Resort – ticks all the boxes when it comes to blending quality, friendliness, and variety. We stayed at the Bombora Resort on our visit to Medewi and were constantly impressed with our meals and service – especially the complimentary breakfast, which included a proper barista coffee!

The Nasi Campur quickly became our go-to – a delicious local dish of veggies, chicken skewers, and prawns over a bed of rice that was constantly on special! For something more indulgent, their pizzas are surprisingly good, providing a comforting Western option.

The staff here go above and beyond to make you feel at home, and you can even order food by the pool to snack on while you relax.

Beach Inn Medewi

Location: JI. Pantai Medewi
Price: 30 – 60k IDR
Best for: Laid-back dining with local vibes
Favourite meal: Spring rolls

Lunch at the Beach Inn in Medewi

Beach Inn Medewi might be low-key, but it certainly holds its own in Medewi’s food scene. The vibe is relaxed, and its location makes it a prime choice for riders coming straight off the surf for a quick, affordable bite

We particularly loved the spring rolls, which were fresh, crisp, and homemade to perfection. Dylan had the Caesar salad, which brought solid flavour but needed a touch more chicken. Beach Inn offers hearty, satisfying meals without breaking the bank, making it an easy, unfussy lunch spot near the beach

Mai Malu

Location: JI. Pantai Medewi
Price: 35 – 70k IDR
Best for: Aussie favourites and Indonesian staples
Favourite meal: Chicken Parmigiana

Chicken Parmigiana in Medewi, Bali

Mai Malu is a homestay-style hotel close to Bombora Resort and the famous left-hand surf break. The restaurant offers a budget-friendly and relaxed vibe, with views from their balcony seating overlooking the surrounding fields and ocean.

Their menu covers all the traditional Balinese dishes, which looked and smelled amazing, while also offering some Aussie classics. We tried the chicken parmigiana (bold choice in Bali, we know!) and it was surprisingly good!

Nals Kitchen

Location: Jl. Raya Denpasar – Gilimanuk
Price: 15 – 40k IDR
Best for: Traditional Indonesian food with an expat local vibe
Favourite meal: Shredded chicken with sambal

Nal Kitchen Warung in Medewi

Nals Kitchen was one of the only legitimate Warungs we found in Medewi that wasn’t just a questionably looking ‘hole in the wall’ eatery. Its inviting beach shack aesthetic creates a cosy, laid-back vibe, and it’s clear from the moment you step in that this place is a go-to favourite for both locals and expats.

The menu is authentically Balinese and incredibly affordable, but it’s the flavours that really steal the show. The shredded chicken with sambal was packed with just the right amount of spice, while the local Balinese curry was rich, aromatic, and absolutely delicious. Every dish tasted fresh and full of heart, making it clear why this spot gets so much love.

While the service can be a little slower compared to other places, it feels more like part of the relaxed, easy-going atmosphere than a drawback. With its delicious food, great seating options, and breezy beach vibe, Nals Kitchen is the perfect spot to kick back, enjoy a great meal, and soak up the charm of Medewi.

Final Thoughts

Medewi’s food scene might not be vast, but it offers surprising variety and quality. From authentic Indonesian warungs serving up traditional dishes to stylish beachside cafes perfect for sipping coffee with a view, we’re sure you’ll find something to love. Just remember to take it slow and allow enough time for the unhurried Balinese service.
